5Rights Foundation How do you demonstrate and rally actionable change?

Web design / Content Management Systems / Web development

5Rights Foundation is a London based NGO with an admirable purpose: to make real and lasting changes to the digital world for children and young people. Having already built a microsite for their most prominent online reports, they approached us to re-design their global website.

The aim of the website is for them to have an online presence displaying reports, press releases, policy statements and other material published to both demonstrate and rally actionable change in government.

Working with our partners at Imagist London, we built a categorised, visually engaging hub that enables them to post a wide variety of content types.

Note: Unfortunately, due to a change of management at 5Rights Foundation, and our point of contact having left; this project was completed, and paid for, but never actually went live.

Reports that cut through the noise

A memorable reading experience

5Rights have become known for their visually engaging reports. They often publish microsites for their large scale projects, as we did for them here.

However, they also have smaller reports that may not have the backing for a website of their own, but still require the level of impact their audience has come to expect.

So we built them an article builder in their CMS which gave them the power to create extensive articles with highly engaging visuals.

Contextual publication cards

As the client needed to be able to publish all types of content, that may not have consistent visuals to go with them, we opted for creating content cards which isolate each publication into their own entity, preventing the risk of them clashing with one another. Cards are then easily filterable by publication type, topic and tags.

Areas of Interest

5rights have three core topics, that they refer to as their Areas Of Interest. Each area of interest has a vast amount of content published to it so they needed a way to segment them within the site.

Along with Imagist London, we gave each Area of Interest its own colour and icon helping the user to identify and distinguish them.

The site Function and Form built for us is beautiful, clean, easy to navigate and helps us to communicate the message of Risky by Design visually. It’s also great that the site sits on an easy CMS we can update ourselves, but we know the support is there if we need it.
